Why Concierge PT?

2020 was a year of surprise and change.

I started the year in a new clinic, working in my hometown and excited about not having to spend as much time in my car commuting. I was excited to begin this new journey with new coworkers and a new patient population. Then March 2020 came and the coronavirus hit. As many were hit with the unknown, businesses shut down or went virtual. The physical therapy company I was working for did the same, furloughing hundreds of employees. While it was hard to go from getting my kids off to school and going into to work each day, to weeks of unstructured home-school and job uncertainty, I am thankful for the reflection this time period brought. It was during this time I began to think about what was really important to me as a physical therapist.

It had been a long time since I was a newly graduated PT and the outpatient PT game continued to value productivity more and more over quality care. With further impending reimbursement rate cuts from insurers, there did not seem to be an end in sight. I would often think, “What would I do, if I could spend an hour doing what I really wanted with a single patient?”

Concierge PT allows for just that to occur. Without the distractions of having to see multiple patients at one time, a therapist is able to devote all his/her time and attention to you. Instead of bouncing back and forth, the PT is able to spend time doing the manual treatments he/she feels are best suited to your needs without interruption. Instead of throwing exercises at you to pass the time, your PT can carefully watch you do these exercises and give you cuing to ensure you are doing them correctly. Too easy or difficult? Your PT can progress or scale back these exercises to make them even more effective for you at each visit. What you get is a more personalized experience and results in less time. Because you have the full attention of your PT at each visit, a condition you otherwise may have been seen for 2-3x per week can often be managed in 1 visit per week.

The possibilities were exciting to me. And now, I am excited to share this personalized level of care with you.
